Class Schedule

Wednesday night, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Dry Pastels/Painting with Leah Kohlenberg

My Teaching Philosophy I believe strongly that anyone can do art, that the practice of learning to draw or paint is valuable on many levels — and not only for professional artists. Drawing and painting skills both stimulate and focus the mind, as well as engage your visual senses in an entirely different way of seeing the world.

Drawing and painting are logical, and can be taught like math, reading and writing. Though we aren’t all artists, anyone can learn to paint and draw technically well. You wouldn’t expect someone to sit down at the piano and automatically know how to play it. Even the most gifted musicians still need lessons.

What makes an artist is not someone who is naturally talented, but someone who puts in the hours to master artistic skills, and is brave enough, ultimately, to use those skills to say something meaningful.
